Roswell cop accused of drunken driving



ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) - A Roswell cop who crashed into a parked car has been arrested for allegedly driving drunk.Police say Stephanie Coon was off-duty at 2 a.m. Friday when she hit the car on Del Norte Street.When they looked in the car officers found an open liquor container.Coon refused a breath test, so she's charged with aggravated DWI, police reported.

She is now on administrative leave."We live in that glass bubble," Roswell Officer Erica O'Bryon told KRQE News 13. "It's going to happen, and as a police department we are going to uphold the law whether it's one of our own or someone else."Coon is the wife of former Roswell Officer Justin Coon who has also been in trouble with the law.He was sentenced to five years probation for using stolen IDs to obtain drugs commonly used to make meth. He was eventually fired.Justin Coon also is the son of Chaves County Sheriff Rob Coon.
