Kern County Deputy Doug
Swanson is seen in an undated file photo used in 2008.
BAKERSFIELD,
Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A longtime Kern County sheriff's deputy was
arrested early Sunday by fellow deputies responding to a domestic disturbance
call.
Deputies were called around
11:07 p.m. Saturday to the home in the 400 block of Casa Verde in northeast
Bakersfield, according to sheriff's spokesman Ray Pruitt. Deputy Doug
Swanson and a female were standing in the driveway when the deputies
arrived.
The woman reported the pair
got into an argument inside the house, during which Swanson grabbed her by the
waist and forced her to the ground. Pruitt said that according to the incident
report, she did appear to have minor injuries, including redness around her
lower waist area, that corroborated her story. Swanson was arrested shortly
after midnight.
A criminal investigation is
now underway, and the sheriff's office will conduct an administrative
investigation.
