Tacoma officer's wife charged Tacoma officer's wife charged

TACOMA, Wash. -- The wife of a veteran Tacoma police officer has been arrested and charged with dealing drugs.

The Tacoma News Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/Ptt7nd) that 47-year-old Cynthia Joy Roberts pleaded not guilty this past week to three felony drug charges.

Roberts posted $15,000 bail the day of her arraignment and was released from jail. Court documents say Roberts says her husband was unaware of her drug dealing.

Reginald Roberts has been with the department for more than 30 years. He has not been charged.

Authorities began to investigate Roberts when two other people arrested in Puyallup said they had bought drugs from a police officer's wife in the South Hill area.

No attorney was immediately available for Roberts on Friday. Efforts to reach her and her husband were unsuccessful.
