Where the hell is the US Justice Department? Why don't they do something to stop mentally ill cops?
Off-Duty NYPD Police Officer Arrested for DWI
BROOKLYN — An off-duty rookie police officer was busted for drunken driving in Williamsburg Sunday, the fifth NYPD cop to be arrested in the last week, police said.
Elvis Garcia, 27, who has been on the job for just a year, was driving his personal vehicle Sunday about 5:45 a.m. when he was involved in a two-car crash, police said.
No one was injured.
Garcia, who works for a precinct in Manhattan, was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
The collision and arrest occurred within the confines of the 90th Precinct, which polices Williamsburg, but cops declined to provide the exact location.
Garcia was suspended pending an investigation, a police source said.
Two other off-duty NYPD officers were arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated last week. Police officers Salisha Alirasul, 34, and Brayan Terrazas, 26, were charged with DWI in separate incidents in Queens on Wednesday and last Sunday.
Police Officer Nicholas Mina, 31, was arrested in Manhattan Thursday for allegedly stealing handguns and bulletproof vests from his colleagues' lockers and selling them on the street. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal sale of a firearm, criminal possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy and grand larceny, the NYPD said.
On Tuesday, Police Officer Kofi Nsafoah was arrested for allegedly choking his wife during a dispute in Brooklyn.
