MILWAUKEE — 22-year-old Danielle Scott faces a felony
charge of harboring or aiding a felon. This, in connection with the robbery and
murder of Russell Setum in April 2012.
Scott was a Milwaukee Police officer at the time of the
robbery and homicide. She had just been hired as an officer in March — and was
still in her probationary period with the force. Two months later, Scott was
fired.
Setum was robbed and then shot and killed Sunday, April
9th near 48th and Wright. 22-year-old Robert Cameron, 23-year-old Anthony
Perkins and 23-year-old Nicholas Smith are charged in the case.
Setum’s mother was also shot during the incident, but
survived.
A criminal complaint says Nicholas Smith is the father of
Scott’s child, and her boyfriend.
The criminal complaint says Smith told Scott about the
crime.
The complaint says Robert Cameron showed up at Scott’s
house the night of the homicide. The complaint says she was given indication
Cameron knew something about the Setum robbery and murder — but she failed to
act upon that information.
In the days after the crime, the complaint says someone
using Scott’s personal identification number at the Milwaukee Police Department
did multiple searches on the case. Those searches allegedly by Scott were not
authorized.
When eventually questioned by her superiors about what
she knew of the Setum case and the suspects involved, Scott stated, “I knew
from the get go. I wasn’t honest with you.”
If convicted of the charge, Scott faces up to
three-and-a-half years in prison plus $10,000 in fines.
Scott will make her initial court appearance on Friday,
July 6th.
