El Paso police officer arrested for DWI

EL PASO - An 18-year veteran of the El Paso Police Department was arrested for driving while intoxicated just before 2 a.m. Sunday, according to El Paso police.

Adrian Gonzalez, an off-duty El Paso Police Officer, was driving on the 7800 block of Parral and struck a parked vehicle, according to EPPD.

Gonzalez remained at the scene and units from the Mission Valley Regional Command responded to the scene.

The responding officers observed signs of intoxication from Gonzalez and, recognizing Gonzalez as an EPPD Officer, immediately requested a police supervisor come to the scene.

The officer and sergeant's investigation uncovered probable cause that Gonzalez had operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Gonzalez was charged with D.W.I. and booked into the El Paso County Jail under a $1,000 dollar bond. Gonzalez has been placed on administrative duty while an administrative investigation is conducted regarding his off-duty conduct.
