WASHINGTON, IN (WFIE) -
A Washington City Police Officer has been formally
charged for his involvement the battery of a man he had arrested.
On Tuesday, 27-year-old Barry A. Hudson turned himself in to authorities and was formally charged with Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury an A Misdemeanor and Official Misconduct, a class D Felony.
On January 26, 2012 the Indiana State Police began a criminal investigation into an alleged battery that took place on December 24, 2011.
The investigation was requested by Martin County Prosecutor Michael Steiner after he was named the special prosecutor in the case.
Through the investigation detectives established enough probable cause for arrest warrants to be issued for Hudson.
At 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, Hudson had his initial court appearance and bonded out on a $2,500 Bond.
His trial has been tentatively scheduled for October 23-26, 2012.
