Shreveport Police Officer faces charges of theft, malfeasance

A Shreveport Police officer faces charges in connection with the theft of prescription medications.

Shreveport Police investigators received information in mid-March that a police officer was possibly involved in the theft of some prescription medication, according to a release.

The theft supposedly happened while the suspected officer was working an off-duty job at Broadmoor Middle Laboratory School.

Detective supervisors were notified of the complaint and began an investigation. Investigators obtained arrest warrants this afternoon charging Kevin Perry, 44, with misdemeanor theft and malfeasance in office.

Perry surrendered to authorities at the Caddo Correctional Center and was booked in on those charges.

Perry, who joined the Shreveport Police Department in November of 1990, has been on paid administrative leave since the allegations were brought forth on March 22, and will remain on leave for seven days following his arrest, according to the regulations of the Shreveport Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board.
