Off-duty officer charged after allegedly refusing breath test


 An off-duty police officer has been arrested and charged after refusing a breath test in Cessnock last night.

Central Hunter police stopped a vehicle for a random breath test on Allandale Road about 10.35pm.

The male driver, 41, allegedly refused to take part in the roadside breath test.

The off-duty officer, who is a senior constable at a command in the Northern Region, was arrested and taken to Cessnock police station.

The senior constable then allegedly refused to take part in a breath analysis at the station, police said.

He was charged with refusing to undergo a breath test and refusing to undergo a breath analysis.

He will appear at Cessnock Local Court on July 25.
