Brandon
Singleton, the former Des Moines police officer discharged this spring after
reportedly causing an accident and being found with drugs while on duty, was
charged with domestic assault early this morning after removing his wife from
his Pleasant Hill townhome.
Pleasant
Hill Police responded to 1121 Flagstone Lane at 3:51 a.m. where they discovered
the separated married couple Brandon and Lacey Singleton.
Lacey
Singleton, 24, showed up at her husband’s home because she wanted to see him,
but he wasn’t there, police spokesman Adam Choat said. She told police that
there was someone she didn’t like inside the house so she kicked the door in.
Brandon
Singleton, 28, arrived home shortly after the reported break in. He asked Lacey
Singleton to leave but she refused.
Choat
said Brandon Singleton grabbed his wife by the arm with one hand and put his
other hand on her neck and drug her down the stairs and pushed out the front
door to leave.
When
police arrived they saw signs of a forced entry on the door frame.
Lacey
Singleton was cited and released with burglary third-degree.
Brandon
Singleton was charged with domestic assault because there were marks on his
wife’s neck.
Choat
said there were no narcotic or alcohol charges on either one of them and they
were cooperative.
Brandon
Singleton was arrested April 24 officers reportedly found marijuana and
methamphetamine in his patrol car after he hit a parked car and drove away. He
was on paid leave for about three weeks before being fired for violating a
laundry list of department regulations.
A
criminal proceeding is under way. Singleton has pleaded not guilty.
