Former police union president booked

We have the mug shot taken overnight of APD police officer Joey Sigala, who was arrested Wednesday on false imprisonment and aggravated burglary charges stemming from a domestic incident.

Sigala had been president of the police officer’s union but stepped down in March amid allegations of misspending.

He was also under fire because of a controversial union policy that paid officers who were involved in shootings of civilians.

Sigala’s arrest came after police responded to a domestic situation Wednesday.

They say Sigala and his wife had gotten into an argument which escalated after Sigala allegedly took money and credit cards from her purse.

They say she suffered minor injuries.

Sigala was booked into jail under his full name, Filiberto Sigala.

He is now on paid leave with the police department.
