Second officer charged with aiding drug trafficking fired

LITTLE ROCK — The second Little Rock police officer charged in a recent drug trafficking case has been terminated.

Mark Anthony Jones was fired Friday morning, according to LRPD spokesman Lt. Terry Hastings. Jones and another officer, Randall Tremayn Robinson, were charged with conspiring and attempting to aid and abet the possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possessing a firearm while taking part in a drug-trafficking crime.

The two officers were charged with the crimes after allegedly escorting a shipment of over 1,000 pounds of marijuana through Little Rock while in uniform and in their marked police vehicle.

Robinson resigned his position on May 30. Both men are set to appear Monday afternoon in Federal Court for a bond hearing.
