Two Hendersonville police
officers are off the job Monday for their involvement in the shooting of a
fleeing burglary suspect in March.

report one of the officers involved has been fired and another has been
suspended for two weeks without pay.
District Attorney Jeff Hunt
tells them the officers won’t face criminal charges in the May 8 shooting of
Fletcher Smiley.
Officers say they thought
Smiley was reaching for a weapon while running from them on Towhee Drive.
Smiley has told the Times-News
police were harassing him and that he didn’t have a weapon.
State investigators have
finished looking into a Hendersonville officer involved shooting. The report
has been handed over to the District Attorney’s Office.
