Hanford police
officer faces more drug charges
HANFORD, Calif. -- A former Hanford police officer accused
of selling drugs taken from people he busted and falsifying a report faces more
charges after another person contacted the Kings County District Attorney's
Office with allegations about drug sales.
The DA's office said the additional drug
charges brought against 30-year-old Ernesto Servin this week
resulted from a witness accusing the ex-officer of selling methamphetamine while
on duty. He also was charged with indecent exposure.
Servin resigned from the department in May after fellow
officers, acting on an anonymous tip, searched his car and found marijuana,
methamphetamine, OxyContin and a handgun.
He has pleaded not guilty to drug possession charges and is
free on $125,000 bond. His public defender has asked to be excused because he
represents other clients in cases in which Servin could be a witness.
