MEMPHIS,
Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities say a Halls Police Department officer has been
charged with official misconduct and theft. The Tennessee Bureau of
Investigation says 32-year-old Jason Colvin was arrested and booked Tuesday.
The TBI says Halls was indicted by a Lauderdale County grand jury on charges of
official misconduct, theft of more than $500 and less than $1,000, accessory
after the fact and facilitation of a felony. Allegations against Colvin include
obtaining a handgun from a convicted felon and attempting to sell a stolen
handgun at a pawn shop in Halls. A clerk at the Lauderdale County general
sessions court said the court was closed and she did not know if Colvin had a
lawyer. Colvin is on unpaid leave from the department.
