Billings police officer suspended pending investigation

Billings police officer suspended pending investigation

BILLINGS - A Billings police officer is facing possible termination resulting from an internal investigation at the Billings Police Department.

According to Billings Police Lieutenant Kevin Iffland, city officer Paul LaMantia was placed on paid administrative leave on January 23rd.

Iffland says LaMantia was placed on leave due to an internal affairs investigation at the department stemming from a possible policy violation.

The findings of that investigation are currently being reviewed by Billings Police Chief Rich St. John.

Iffland says he believes the review will be completed within a few days.

Once the investigation is reviewed, Iffland says possible disciplinary actions could include termination of employment.

Iffland says criminal charges will not result from the investigation.

LaMantia was hired by the Billings Police Department in March of 2009.

The California native graduated from the University of Montana in 2008.

LaMantia played football for the University of Montana Grizzlies in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
