Settlement possible in police brutality case

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A man may get a $35,000 settlement from the City of Syracuse after he claimed a police officer shoved his head into a patrol car window.

Edward Jones, 25, filed a lawsuit after the incident on Park Street in Syracuse last July, which was captured in a video that was posted online.

The lawsuit seeks more than $1 million in compensatory and punitive damages.

The Onondaga County District Attorney previously said no criminal charges were filed because Jones' injuries weren't significant enough. The DA also said the officer's actions were not consistent with training and the officer would face punishment.

The Syracuse Common Council will discuss the settlement at Monday's meeting
