Second misconduct investigation for Spokane Police Officer underway
SPOKANE-- A senior Spokane Police Officer is being investigated for a second time for alleged misconduct.
He was back on the job for only two months when the second complaint was filled. Now the department is investigating senior officer Alan Edwards.
The alleged misconduct happened off duty.
The interim chief is being extremely cautious making sure this officer gets his due process.
Senior officer Alan Edwards spent most of last year on paid administrative leave.
He was accused of an inappropriate working relationship with a bounty hunter and bail bondsman.
Edwards was cleared in the criminal investigation.
Officials say he came back to work in October and had to serve an 80 hour suspension as a result of that investigation.
Two months back to work he was accused again on December 15th.
A woman says she met Edwards at a Spokane Valley bar when he was off duty.
They parted ways and she says he showed up on her doorstep around midnight uninvited. The allegation was that he had used city resources to acquire that address.
The woman called 911 and filed a complaint against the officer.
Officials say Edwards’s disciplinary history will come into play with the chief's decision. But, he's consulting city legal to make sure due process is followed.
Edwards is currently on injury leave.
While Edwards was on admin leave in 2011 he was paid his normal salary of nearly $77,000.
The chief is expected to announce his decision next week.
