Board hears allegations of police brutality, weighs benefits of spending more for garbage collection

A local woman appeared before the Clarksdale Mayor and Board of Commissioners at Monday’s meeting and told the board that the police department was stalling an investigation into the alleged abuse of her 14-year old nephew and her pregnant niece.

The boy was arrested in connection with an incident of vandalism on Feb. 19 when two girls were throwing eggs and rocks at passing cars on West Second Street. However, the boy was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and the victim of the vandalism has apparently told the police department that the 14-year-old had nothing to do with the incident.
