A DARBY Township police officer was arrested yesterday for allegedly stealing department-issued guns and selling them on the street.
Jonathan Fiscaro, 23, is charged with receiving stolen property and filing false reports, according to Erica Parham, assistant Delaware County district attorney.
She said that an officer noticed on Saturday that his rifle was missing and went to Chief Leonard McDevitt about it and that officials then discovered that a second rifle was missing. Detectives interviewed Fiscaro Monday and yesterday, Parham said.
When questioned yesterday, Fiscaro admitted that he took a DPMS A-15 rifle home in January and sold it for $500 on Feb. 24, Parham said. Fiscaro also said he took a Bushmaster XM-15-EZS rifle home in 2011 and sold it for $600. The guns are worth about $2,000 each, Parham said.
Fiscaro was being held on $100,000 bail for a Tuesday court date.
