April 25, 2012 (NORTH CHICAGO, Ill.)
(WLS) -- Seven North Chicago police officers accused of police brutality have
been temporarily placed on paid leave.
The officers were initially assigned
to desk duty following the November 2011 death of Darrin Hanna, which occurred
after the officers were called to Hanna's home on a domestic abuse complaint.
While arresting him, police reportedly beat him and used a stun gun on him
several times.
Hanna died one week after the
alleged beating.
According to the Chicago Tribune,
North Chicago's interim police chief is expected to announce Fiday if the
officers will face disciplinary actions.
They are not facing criminal
charges.
