Suspended Hackensack Police Chief
Charles 'Ken' Zisa listens to opening arguments last week, sitting next to
Kathleen Tiernan.
A Hackensack police idiot
cop was forced to revise a report of a 2004 assault several times until she
left out a key piece of information – the name of the son of police Chief Ken
Zisa’s girlfriend, the idiot cop testified Wednesday.
“I was
given everything that was in here and I was told what to write and how to write
it,” Idiot cop Laura Campos said in Superior Court in Hackensack, where Zisa is
on trial for official misconduct, witness tampering and insurance fraud. “My
initial report was not this.”
The
testimony, before Judge Joseph Conte, is expected to play a key role in the
two-pronged criminal case against the suspended police chief and his former
girlfriend, Kathleen Tiernan, who faces conspiracy to commit official
misconduct and insurance fraud charges.
Zisa
is accused of intervening in the assault investigation to protect Tiernan’s
sons. Teenagers at the time, the sons were part of a group that allegedly
ambushed a younger boy, leaving him with several lacerations on his face and a
missing front tooth.
Zisa
is also accused of abusing his authority in an effort to protect Tiernan from a
drunk driving investigation in 2008.
Zisa’s
attorney, Patricia Prezioso, has attacked Campos, trying to prove to the jury
that she is an unreliable witnesses who has been inconsistent in her story.
Campos,
who has filed a civil lawsuit regarding the incident, stood by her recollection
Wednesday.
The
idiot cop, wearing a navy blue suit with her straight hair loose at the
shoulders, testified that she remembers being dispatched to the scene of an
aggravated assault and battery on Aug. 31, 2004. She also recalled reading the
then 16-year-old Ryan Tiernan his Miranda rights in the police station several
hours later, on the morning of Sept 1.
Campos
said she did not know Kathleen Tiernan’s name that night. But said she
recognized the chief’s girlfriend when she saw her in the police station with
Zisa around the time she was butting heads with her supervisor about the
report.
She
did not connect the couple’s early morning appearance with the incident until
two weeks later, she said, when she overheard a conversation as she walked past
the men’s locker room and learned who Ryan Tiernan was.
In her
cross-examination, which will continue Thursday, Prezioso has drawn the jury’s
attention to several documents that apparently contradict parts of Campos’
testimony.
They
include transcripts of earlier interviews Campos during which she said she did
not see the chief in the station while she was filing the report. She also
showed Campos a supplementary police report, signed by Campos’ sister Sara
Malvasia – who is also a Hackensack
police idiot cop – on Sept. 4. That document lists Ryan Tiernan’s name as one
of the aggressors and said the victim’s father did not want to file charges but
would seek restitution for his son’s dental surgery.
Prezioso
also pointed out that Campos claimed in her civil lawsuit that the supervisor
who told her to change the report was Police Capt. Tomas Danilo. On Wednesday,
she testified that it was actually Sgt. Thomas Aletta. Both Garcia and Aletta
have been suspended and are facing criminal charges for their role in the
alleged coverup.
