Some
people used Sunday's parade to protest the Albuquerque Police Department.
The
Answer Coalition of New Mexico organized the rally. Organizers said they're
trying to highlight the problem of police brutality in Albuquerque.
They
even brought a coffin marked with all the names of people killed by Albuquerque
police officers over the years.
Some
people we talked to at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. parade said today was not
the time or the place for their protest.
But
answer organizers say this is exactly the kind of thing King would have fought
for.
"The
role that Martin Luther King Junior played fighting against injustice for
working class people and injustices everywhere," Bethany Woody said.
"It's absolutely the right time and place to come out here and let people
know that this is a real problem, this is actually going on in our community
and it needs to stop.
Several
of the victims' families were also a part of the protest.
