A
Jamestown police officer has been arrested following an off-duty incident at
his residence last week.
Officer
Michael A. Bush on Tuesday was arrested and charged with second-degree
obstructing governmental administration.
Ellicott
police on Jan. 17 were called to Baker Street Extension for a distraught male.
Police said Bush was found in the home armed with a weapon threatening harm to
himself.
After
three hours of speaking to him, Bush allowed police to get him medical
attention. Because he failed to immediately follow police, Bush was charged and
was arraigned today in Ellicott Court. He was released under supervision of
probation.
According
to a news release by the Jamestown Police Department, Bush has been placed on
administrative leave pending an internal investigation. Harry Snellings, Jamestown
police chief, said the incident occurred while Bush was off-duty and outside
the city.
Questions
currently are being referred to Ellicott police.
