TORRINGTON – Former Torrington police officer Hector Medina, 50 was arrested by Torrington police officers Wednesday afternoon at his 115 Tall Tree Lane home.
Medina was arrested on the strength of a warrant that charged him with 29 counts of third-degree computer crimes (Unauthorized access of COLLECT database), 29 counts of third-degree computer crimes (Unauthorized access of CT Stop Stat database), 29 counts of false entry by a police officer (Unauthorized access of TPD RMS system) and six counts of second-degree forgery.
In a separate case, Medina is also charged with second-degree false statement. The above charges stem from two separate arrest warrants and have both been sealed by the courts.
Medina was released on a $20,000 non-surety bond in regard to the first case and was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond in the second case. He is scheduled to appear in Bantam Superior Court Feb. 22
According to a report in the Waterbury Republican-American, Medina resigned in November before a disciplinary hearing could be held. In July 2011, Medina was quoted in the report as being critical of an August 2010 motor vehicle stop of Capt. Todd Schaller’s girlfriend. Medina alleged the woman was treated differently and questioned why he was disciplined in a similar case.
