Another Philly Cop Arrested for Assault: Police
A Philadelphia Police officer was arrested on multiple assault charges after getting into a physical fight with his wife, Philadelphia Police say.
According to police, 25-year-old Dwayne Carter was off duty when he assaulted his wife on the 5500 block of Chester Avenue Friday.
An investigation by the police department’s internal affairs unit yielded charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and reckless endangerment against Carter, police say.
He is the 40th Philadelphia Police officer to be arrested since 2009. At least 10 of those officers have been arrested on physical or sexual assault charges, reports the Daily News.
Carter is a four-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department. Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey suspended Carter for 30 days, with intent to dismiss.
Carter’s arrest comes two weeks after one of Philadelphia’s “hero” officers, Richard DeCoatsworth, was accused of threatening and man and a woman. An investigation is underway and DeCoatsworth has not been charged.
