Phila. officer charged for firing shots at building




LOGAN - February 1, 2013 (WPVI) -- A Philadelphia police officer has been formally been charged for allegedly shooting at a building in Logan and lying about it. The incident happened back in October 2012 on the 1400 block of West Rockland Street. Witnesses reported seeing 27-year-old Ofc. Pharez Morris attempting to get into an apartment building. After failing to get in, witnesses say Morris pulled out a gun and shot at the building multiple times. No one was injured. After firing the shots, a woman came and let Morris inside. Police say an investigation revealed that shortly after the shooting, Morris placed a fake 9-1-1 call to divert authorities. Morris turned himself into Internal Affairs on Friday afternoon and faces charges including unlawful discharge. The six-year veteran is also suspended from the force with intent to dismiss
