Nora Springs officer charged with choking young victim




CHARLES CITY, Iowa --- The Nora Springs cop arrested last week and charged with child endangerment allegedly choked his victim, according to Floyd County District Court records.
James A. Gray Jr., 43, of Nora Springs, was arrested Friday by a Floyd County sheriff’s deputy for an alleged incident that occurred on Thursday.
Gray threw the victim onto a bed and choked him, causing him to have difficulty breathing and leaving a red mark on his neck, according to court records. The victim also had a red mark under his left eye, court records state.
Gray is being held in the Floyd County Jail on $5,000 bond. A preliminary hearing has been set for 11 a.m. on Feb. 4.
Gray has been ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim.
Nora Springs City Clerk/Administrator Deb Gaul said city officials are waiting to hear from the city attorney before making a decision on Gray’s employment status.

CHARLES CITY — A Nora Springs cop has been charged with child endangerment, a Class D felony, according to Floyd County Attorney Normand Klemesrud.
Jim Gray, no age given, was arrested Friday.
Klemesrud said Gray has already appeared before a magistrate. His bond has been set at $5,000.
Klemesrud said he believes the alleged incident Gray has been charged for occurred in Nora Springs.
He declined to give more details.
