Marion police officers suspended while S.L.E.D. investigates (uses stun gun on 40 year old woman 6 times in 10 minutes)



Two Marion Police officers are suspended after the request for the State Law Enforcement Division to investigate a case of possible excessive force. , Sgt. Eric Walters and Frankie Brown are currently not on the job pending the outcome of the investigation for an incident that happened April 2, on Jones Ave. in Marion.
According to an incident report, Sgt. Eric Walters was patrolling the area when he saw a female leaving the yard of a house that had a "For Sale" sign in front.
According to the report, Walters began questioning 40-year-old Melissa Davis, to determine why she was in the area and make sure the home, had not been burglarized.
The report indicates Davis tried to pull away from the officer and would not cooperate, so the officer used a stun gun on her.(1) Then she reportedly tried to run again, and again a stun gun was used.(2)
At this point the report said Sgt. Frankie Brown arrived on the scene and the woman struggled to get out of handcuffs. Brown then used his stun gun (3) on Davis several times (5 and 6).Police charged Davis with failure to stop on command of an officer and escape.Davis subsequently asked the police department to investigate the manner in which she was treated during the arrest.Marion Police Chief Jim Gray said his office handed over all of the information on the case, to SLED for assistance.
